About Us

About Our Department

Pond Hill-Lily Lake Fire Department (Station 218) is an all-volunteer fire company that serves the Wapwallopen Area.  Our department is an engine company, which means our main objective and outfit is fire suppression, but we do have minor vehicle, water, and mountain based rescue equipment.  Our two primary trucks are our Engine and Pumper/Tanker (pumper/tankers can transport water like a tanker and also pump like an engine, very versatile), but we also have our heavy off-road brush truck for wildland fires and rescue along with our secondary tanker for extra water.  Based in Conyngham Township we cover Pond Hill, Council Cup, Lily Lake, Ruckle Hill, and the Village of Wapwallopen for fire protection.  Our department works closely with Mocanaqua’s fire service as we are both in the same township.  We are part of the Mountain Top Mutual Aid and therefore often respond into our neighboring communities to assist them.  Our services include fire prevention, fire suppression, public services, and basic vehicle rescue.

We are always looking for new members as volunteerism is a fading tradition.  Our department works closely with our neighbor Slocum Township to provide training on a near weekly basis for our members.  All of our funds come from grants and community fund raisers and at a cost of nearly $9,000 a fire fighter and $250,000 a fire truck, all help is greatly appreciated.
